>>2512968People don't rip copper very much in this part of the country for some reason. I'm not sure why. A lot of the tweakers I think steer clear of places due to the number of folks that are armed out here. It's pretty easy to get shot breaking into a place if you don't know some one.
That, and copper isn't nearly as valuable as some of the other stuff they can get their hands on. There's drug trafficking and some human trafficking and a fair number of thefts. But the tweakers tend to go after antique stuff out here and forward it to antique dealers/fences. It's a weird economy... but as a result copper piping is (mostly) intact in our abandoned buildings. It's more trouble than its worth compared to the other stuff they're after.
