I live in Arkansas, so we often hear coyotes when we camp but they are never a problem. The only animals I worry about are raccoons and black bears because they'll wreck your camp if you don't put stuff away properly. We once had to chase a black bear out of someone's camp at Philmont in New Mexico because they hadn't put their trash in a bear bag. Our bears are never that bold, but I don't want to give them the chance.
