I have a pair of lowa Zyper mids and I love them to death, but again they're suede so they are light as heck but don't hold up to rain quite as well. Overall I'd say lowa is the best hiking brand around, but that's just my opinion.
Salomon is a little cheaper, but again its not leather so the gortex will only go so far. Although I know a lot of guys that swear by their salomon boots.
Also if you're going to be fording a lot of streams look into a good pair of gaiters.

I would suggest looking at all the different models, read reviews, and check the weights of the shoes. Try to keep it as light as you can, its amazing the difference in comfort and mobility from a light boot vs a heavy boot. But for all of these, find somewhere you can try them on and pick what feels best for YOU.
