I do this all the time. I also try going without any light at all, I have headlamps/flashlight, but waiting til your eyes adjust is also pretty cool.

I was at an old mine, webm related, and as I was looking down the shaft I heard noises. That's why I dimmed my light then I heard a smashing noise, that's when I panned over to the right. I went on a dare to a skinwalker cave and filmed it. I get up to the cave entrance ok when I heard a howl off in the distance then I heard something behind me. That's when I turned around and go the fuk out. I screamed like a little girl all the way back to my car but since nobody knows who I am I don't care.

I used to use cheap headlamps and they worked ok until I finally broke down and got a real good one. So I'm of the opinion now that there are camp headlamps, good for cooking and getting in your tent, and hiking headlamps. It's funny when your hiking and you hear noise in the woods and everyone turns their lights on high "did you hear that??? I think it's coming from over there" Then you step out front "step aside citizens" then you hold the button down on your headlamp and BOOM it's like the high beams on a rally racer. You literally stand there "how can this be so bright.

This is an actual webm I made. I thought I heard someone talking but it wasn't in english, I'm in the USA. I walked toward it and found this mine shaft, wait til after it goes dark when I hit my high beam and you can see the shaft. Then as I was filming I heard the talking real loud behind me, that's when I turned and looked. This was in the middle of the night kinda deep innawoods and I saw no foot tracks or seen anyone. I can't describe the talking but it was sort of just gibberish.
