Anon, you can plant it in some dirt and it will probably grow, the thing about trying to grow an onion from a store is that onions are biennials and are usually harvested at the end of the first growing season. “What’s it matter to me? I’m a big ol retard” well it matters because that particular onion is probably gonna try to put on seeds ASAP after it gets in some warm soil. Then you have 2 options, let the plant flower and collect the seeds for starting your own onions again or you can pull it up and plant something useful. If you want onions go buy some onion bulbs from the farm supply store and plant those like someone who knows how to grow things.
