I've never baitcasted before, always spinning reels. And it was ok because I used to only jig or troll for walleye and didn't go out as often, but now that I've been doing a lot of casting and fishing on my own I figure it would be easier in the long run to get a baitcaster because opening and closing the bail is a pain in the ass.
Budget around 100 total for rod and reel.
One thing is I oftenfish light, like 1/16-1/4 oz spinners, rapalas, and stuff. I cant imagine how a baitcaster can launch that light.
