I process most non-corn grains with the in-depth scientific method: cut the seedheads with a scythe or hand pruners, cram them into a pillow case, stomp the shit out of them, and winnow them by pouring them between two bowls. The easy ones I mentioned are either hull-less or detach from the hulls easily, while the harder ones either cling to the chaff or are so tiny that it's hard to winnow them.
