>>2609562The price is right, but everything around it is heavily subdivided and it's in Canada. The road frontage is something I personally wanted to avoid, same with all the neighbor lots. I'd be worried there were a lot of weekend cabins there and it would be a drunken shitshow every weekend. That's what would happen in Wisconsin at least with our rampant alcoholism.
My property wasn't a steal, it was a fair price for the area and the prices are continuing to rise. The issue with WI currently is that everyone from MN and IL makes a good deal more than your average person here, and they come and buy vacation land driving up the price in the area. Spending 10k an acre is a lot for someone local, but for someone from Chicago? Ffft, it's nothing.
The advantage of my piece of land is that the people from Chicago are scared of the woods and really just want a cabin with some trees around it. If they don't have electricity, running water, a flushing toilet, and internet access, they are afraid they might literally DIE. Not me, I want to be out in the bush. So while there are a few neighbors around me, I don't think they're likely to sell their land. Beyond those immediate neighbors it's all county forest. As a matter of fact the only thing I'm unhappy about is I don't have direct access from my property to the county forest. I have to walk a 1/3rd of a mile up the two track road coming in to get to it.
