They're different enough. If you had to have one itd probably be a whisperlite for sheer usability. It's an actual stove that you can put a real pan over, fill with many different fuels, very durable.
But a jetboil, especially the wider-mouth one (mini-moe?) Is fucking convenient. Uses very little fuel, boils water fast as fuck. If I'm not trying to actually cook anything asides from maybe rice, it's an easy choice.
Although they do make this little thing which turns your jetboil into a msr pocket rocket, bumps up the usefulness.
Combined with a 1lb propane converter and fuel is also as cheap as a whisperlite, but you end up with a heavier system.
