I like mid-range mechanicals for daily wear but it's hard to go wrong with a classic, bomb-proof G-Shock for a beater watch. I'm partial to this little guy because of the moon phase and tide chart functions. Great for being on or near the water. Solar and radio aren't real pressing concerns of mine seeing as how I'm never away from civilization for more than 10 days at the longest and a non-radio G-shock is pretty well guaranteed to keep +/- a second a day, but whatever floats your boat, anon.
