wind is your friend - wind blowing directly onto a clump of weeds/log/rockpile is pushing microscopic shit that small fish eat into there, which in turn pushes baitfish into that region. the biggest pike will be taking advantage of these low energy expenditure spots where they can wait in ambush.
use a thick fluorocarbon line for a leader(50lbs) or a wire leader to avoid simply feeding the pike your lures. a good knot for joining lines is a double uni knot
