Agreed. They fall apart pretty quickly.
I found Keen good for my wife flat feet for light hikes. Have boot and shoe version of Targhee III EXP attached. Waterproofing seems to last. Soles are soft and grippy but wear out reasonably quickly, but I’ll accept that for their supreme comfort and waterproofing.

I just made last post about Keen. I hate the look too, but fuck me they’re comfy.
I’m on my 2nd pair of these, and have the shoe version also. Targhee EXP or something. Sole is too soft for extended trips on rocky ground /scree, but bloody good on the average formed trail.
