I've never done a trip of that magnitude just because it seems kind of retarded to me, if I had something to prove to myself maybe I would see it differently but if I want to go out in nature 3-4 days living out of a backpack is plenty for me
So I like to bring real food, I will generally make a big pot of beef stew and bring a big bag or container of it, the shit does not get old out on the trail and is quick to heat up with my MSR pocketrocket (which I can't recommend highly enough). If I can't prepare food ahead of time I like canned Amy's soup and sealed ham steaks, i can cook the ham and warm 2 cans of soup in the same 1L msr pot. ham steaks are based for backpacking
