A female can have one joey old enough to hop around and be mostly independent, have another in its pouch and be pregnant at the same time. Furthermore the female can actually "pause" it's pregnancy until the joey in its pouch is old enough to not have to live there 24/7, then she gives birth to a new one.
As soon as she gives birth she goes in oestrus again to mate, so in effect giving birth is the only time a female kangaroo is not pregnant.
Just something to keep in mind if you feel squeamish about killing pregnant/baby animals or leaving their young to die.
