>>2610176well part of the reason we have so many lakes is because they sit on top of the canadian shield, which is bedrock just below the soil in many places. drainage is terrible in these regions so you get a lot of bog. also much of the northern regions are muskeg, which is so swampy and difficult to move through even moose get stuck.
