I'm a little hesitant to reply to this thread since we have one every week but here goes.
The MSR pocket rocket is great, but some people prefer the $8
amazon.com chinese copy. Primus and MSR make some great white gas / multi fuel stoves, but they are more expensive.
Primus, MSR, GSI all make good cookware. I have pic related, which is an MSR 1.1 liter pot, it's awesome, stainless, not the lightest thing around, and all that shit in the picture fits inside, including the fuel and stove, in it's case.
You don't need a 3/4 piece aluminium set, that's probably overkill. If you carry a water bottle, you'll want to get the gsi canteen cup which weighs nothing and takes no space at all, since it slides right over your water bottle.
On the subject of water bottles, you like coffee? Get a GSI h2j0. It's a little filter that screws into your water bottle, so you can filter coffee through it.
