What I use:
Gold Grabber square pan
folding Coleman shovel or little garden shovel
Snuffer bottle (to suck gold out of pan)
Bottle of soapy water (breaks up surface tension in pan with dirt)
heavy duty orange rubber gloves
Where to get gold is the hard part. Under rocks, where the creek river stops flowing roughly, on bends, in the moss on the creek river (it collects gold), on the river bank up from the water about 3 to 4 feet (sort of flood level after heavy rain), downriver side of quartz vein.
And my super secret favorite. Where I live the forest service builds really long trails usually next to rivers. Feeder streams come off the mountains and feed into the river. The forest service uses corrugated plastic tubes so the creek water can flow under the trail. The gold gets trapped in the wavey parts in the pipe.
