We finally reached the trailhead at 4:40pm. The last 3 miles was torture and we couldn’t wait for it to end. As soon as we hit this sign, it set in that we were actually finished, we both started missing it. We signed the trail register and started walking through the parking lot looking for our parents car. We walked right past them. They pulled up behind us and honked. Our mom jumped out of the car and ran over to hug us. She’s a bit of a worry wort and said she had hardly slept than past 5 days. It was so nice to see her at the end of the trail. My dad just came over and clapped udon the back and congratulated us on finishing. My dad originally wanted to go with us but back in February he was hit by a car in a parking lot and messed up his hip and leg pretty bad. The only thing that was missing from this trip was our old man, who is responsible for getting us into hiking and backpacking when we were kids.
