>>2468033>sounds like a nice day out anonIt was. I didn't catch a damn thing, and neither did the other fly fishermen I met while there. I went entirely minimalist today:
>hip waders and boots>weeb rod>a fly-drying patch with a few flies on>nippers on a retractor>two spools of tippet in pocket>small 1990s L.L. Bean landing netThe way I carried the net (picrel) was my greatest minimalist innovation. The net has a steel scissor clamp attached by a swivel ring to a tiny eye bolt in the butt of the handle. I just tucked the handle into the slotted shoulder pad of a cheap carrying strap from a Walmart tackle bag, clamped the net to the shoulder pad, then clipped the strap around my waist and cinched it with the net on my left hip. The net didn't move an inch for four hours, even when I rammed it into trees, and was easy and quick to remove.
I have a wading belt, a sling pack with a net scabbard, and a Fishpond fly fishing vest and magnetic net release, but I think I'll use this often from now on as well.
