If you grow them indoors you may have it too warm. If you get them from the grocery store in summer again it may be too warm. If you use grow light and can't remove the heat from them fast enough they will bolt very quickly and very young. Some species of plant, like carrots, only bolt their second year. Thus, a store carrot will bloom the first year.
