Compounds, are complex, but still very fun. Their only problem could be upkeep, like I said they are complex and mechanisms may come loose etc, but they are by and large the easiest bow to shoot properly.
Recurves/ Long Bows are also very fun, but require a bit of endurance and strength to fire at higher lbs. I shoot a 40 lb recurve and its a bit of trouble sometimes. Also recurves are much more stability and form driven.
All in all you seem like you want a simple portable bow, i would recommend a 30 lb takedown recurve. Their are plenty of good 150 dollar versions, but some a bit higher in price if you want something with more bells and whistles.
