>>297119Great suggestion. I'll contact the guys in charge of restoring this stream, and notify them that I'm putting up traps. They've been doing it too, and perhaps they can lend me some non-lethal traps because those are expensive.
I agree minks are really cute, but unlike the other Mustelidae-mammals, they're extremely fierce and kills everything, even if they won't eat it. They're also way too perfectly evolved for our eco-system, that was adapted for the less agile ferret. Usually I hate hunting carnivores/omnivores because they're highly intelligent and adorable, but if they're an invasive species that kills everything, I guess I don't have a choice.
>>297120>>297121That's what I'm going to do.
>>297128There are no native European minks in Sweden. They're an endangered species and nearly extinct. We used to have ferrets, weasels, martens and otters filling the mink niche here, but now American minks have been introduced by escaping from fur farms, and they're seriously damaging our eco-system. If it was a European mink I'd be calling some wildlife service to PROTECT it.
>>297130For pest control there's no rules for traps (since minks are in the same category as rats, a rat trap and a mink trap are both legal). I don't know about whether you're allowed to kill them once in the trap, but I doubt anyone would see that. It's gonna be hard to kill the cute little buggers, I might get too soft and just release them far away. But I'll try not to, since after all they are an invasive species.
Anyway guys, thanks for the input and advice. I'll go with the non-lethal traps. I'll make a new thread if I manage to catch some minks. Until then,
