It's the tent industry plants. Imagine if you were making bank selling pieces of canvas with a bunch of aluminum tubes to retards for upwards of $500, and then an alternative appears that a half-competent seamstress can make for $50. So you place shills on social media and spread FUD to try to dissuade people from even trying the competition. Notice that none of the biggest tent brands also make hammocks.
