>>1229763It’s fine if you’re in your teens and 20s, as long as you stay away from drink and drugs, look after yourself and train a skill while you do it. It can quickly go downhill if you don’t have discipline, basic hygiene, “survival” (things like temperature and illness knowledge), streetsmarts and common sense, but the knowledge that you can pack a bag and go anywhere you want and make it work from your own wit and guile is very good knowledge and confidence for a young man. Women, not so much, older gents, you’re pushing it and should be settled into something more productive and self respectable. I’m “homeless” now but I have a chunk saved up from part time jobs I do, I could have a flat if I wanted but I spend most of my days in coffee shops training my /ic/ drawing and the nights camping in the nearby woods. Shit’s comfy and I rent an air b’n’b occasionally to wash up, clean my gear, cook a full hearty meal and get a good rest.
I don’t beg, rather I sell my drawings and do commissions. I guess I live more like a thru hiker than a bum
