Forget it for a few days and all the fluid evaporates. It always struck me as counter intuitive, but they last longer when you use them more. Just my personal experience.
A better option is the Permanent Match, all the perks of a Zippo plus a spark even when out of fuel, and and o-ring keeps the fuel from evaporating. You can get cheap ones on ebay for $1, or spend $10 and get a real one.
