>>2514286don't hold your breath for more than 1 or 2 cottage brands because packing obscene amounts of weight into the woods is kind of a joke now unless you're hunting with how much modern gear has improved. there's no need for it and no demand for it.
picrel what actual people who do actual long distance hikes actually pack 2021 survey. a lot of the problem is that this board is full of zoomers, fat people, and people who don't go outside who shit up this board because of retvrn to tradition pol and k memes. they would and do get laughed at everywhere else on the internet. the lack of post histories lets retarded zoomer faggots shit up this board with "durr you don't need a down jacket to sleep in, just buy a scottish cape from 1633!"
these guys don't exist out in the wild. if you're under the age of 50 and did a thru hike in an external frame everyone would be talking about it, but i don't ever hear about it. you look at guys who are into mountaineering and you see them kitted out in nothing but the top of the line best modern gear they can find. then you look at the history of mountaineering and see that each of these technological advancements led immediately to harder summits being taken on, less deaths, etc.
truth is like 45% of thru hikers are childless mentally ill women with reddit accounts according to thru hiker surveys and they're more chadly than the frogo faggins larpers on here.
>>2514294seekoutside makes them. very good. not cheap. same comfort rating and max load rating as any non ultralight external frame pack.
