>>612923 my gf lives in the suburbs of a college town so night sky you can see the major constellations very clearly (so including orions shield) but light pollution is still present. According to this chart I'd say in between a 5 and 3...so a 4. Given it being a college town I think I would be able to find a really nice dark sky area with relatively little trouble so portability would be nice but not hiking level, just putting it in my car. I don't need a computer guided one, I have a sky chart from an astronomy course a while back so finding the constellations is easy and I'm willing to look up how/where to find other cool stuff. For the sake of being an ultra poor grad student let's limit the price to 400
