You're right about me not having much experience, but I don't plan on taking a whole lot of superfluous gear like a camera or cooking stove. The main thing I'd need to make sure I pack enough of is food and water, then I'll consider toiletries, cooking kit, clothes, sunscreen, a few utilities (leatherman, compass, maybe a hatchet/e-tool for firewood), and finally sleeping/camping equipment.
As for entertainment, my sister gave me an old Nook, might see how long the battery lasts on it - should be better than carrying some books if it lasts long enough.
Is there anything vital I'm missing?
