Yes, I thought they were a meme also but after my friend got one several years back, we tried it out in my backyard and could literally see the mosquitos coming right as us, only to to do a 360 and GTFO when they hit the “force field” of repellant from the gadget.
I’ve use one deer and turkey hunting as well as fishing with no issues, clipping it up-wind at about shoulder height to keep the skeeters away from the my face and clipping it on the top back of my pack when hiking in/out to the hunting spot, or on the back of the lawn chair when hanging out at camp.
I’ve also found that putting the Thermacell in my tent and leaving the door open for 20 mins or so before bed, drives out any skeeters who may have snuck in during the day.
Get the full package kit with the holster, extra repellant pads and butane and get the “megapack” refill kit also with more pads and butane.
