I have to stand in the back of my pickup truck with a 15 feet long fruit picker pole to reach most of the fruit and I still can't reach the top of some of the trees. They are not semi-dwarf. Also, it'd take effing forever to put t hat much plastic on and take it off every evening/morning.
It would work of course, just not practical. Smudge pots are the only practical solution. They'd also be cheaper than plastic in the long run. One solution I was considering was to make braziers to burn stuff in. I'd need to get up at 4am to get the flames going though.
