Pretty much this, with packed earth or earth bag walls. We're practically innadesert, need that to keep it cool. The greenhouse will serve as a heat trap during winter, it'll be on the south side of the house. There will be significant attic storage. We're saving up to buy the land now, it's only $600 per acre out here, and that includes a working well or two. Want ten acres minimum so if it becomes incorporated (unlikely, but strange things happen) the city can't tell me I can't shoot shotguns on my land. Plan on no hookups, will use solar and wind power for the well pump and house lights, all 12 volt systems.
