>>2729971the metal wedges are shaped like guitar picks that slope to a gentle point. the metal wedges should be perpendicular to the wood wedges becuase they help the wood wedge to not slip out over time in changing humidities. nalis probably wouldn't work but maybe if you put them in at an angle or something. i would recommend probably rehandling the axe as once the head starts to get loose normally she doesnt have much time left. Hope this helps.
>>2729980funny story, i went into tractor supply and bought the handle and put it on the axe all fine but when i went to swing it, it snapped in half in my hands so i went back angrily to tractor supply to exchange it. this second handle snapped too so i went back angrier and just asked for my money back. they gave me a real hard time but ended up giving me my money back. i then just went onto beaver-tooth handles (
https://beaver-tooth.com/) and bought one of their second grade handles which has held up great. so yes i chose the first two handles but i chose wrong and then finally just let a family owned business choose for me.

picrel is the axe in its final form. the handle is 36'' i think which i know is long for how large the head is but the small head combined with the powerful swing of the longer handle blazes through the smallish hardwoods we have in texas.
