>>851433Kinda read that one a little more.
The Daiwa might be fine. It's not a shitty brand or anything. Was that a rod and reel for $27? That's really cheap so don't expect much. If you are just going to be tossing bait, it might be fine. If you think you will use it more often, drop a bit more money.
Do you think you will use the thing when upu get home? Because maybe you could get away with buying a decent MH spinning combo for $75-$100 and actually use it for heavier bass, catfish, or carp when you get back to freshwater. Something like a Pflueger President 6935, I think Bass Pro has them on a MH rod for $80 or $90. Or even something slightly larger. I know Walmart sells the Abu Garcia Cardinal SX combos, maybe they have something MH with a ~40 size reel. Those combos run around $75 and you could happily use that one for freshwater and saltwater shore fishing for years to come.
Hard to say what that Daiwa is like. For that low price, it is basically disposable. But I think the "Catch More" combo will be like that too. If you drop $50 on the Ugly Stik GX2 MH 7' combo, at least you will have a catfish rod and could upgrade the reel eventually.
>tl;dr: If you spend <$40, it will basically be disposable and don't even bother bringing it home. If you get the MH Ugly Stik GX2, at least you have a catfish rod once you buy a better reel. Or spend some money on a nicer MH combo you will actually want to use in the future.
