They cost as much or more then doing the exact same thing with structural lumber and plywood. They are metal, so they rust, the accumulate moisture and condensation and they have crap insulation. They are designed to bear a load on their 4 corners, nowhere else. Their unique advantage is that you can place 4 cinder blocks roughly level, get the container delivered and installed and it's that quick.
In your case, if you really want an easy underground dwelling and aren't just shitting, look into cement culverts, like pic related. But you'll still have to deal with condensation.
