It still needs burnt at the ends and is almost the same size as the full paracord. For what you're saying I'd counter with just get some high end 3mm reflective cord.
>pic relatedYou pack it by doing the figure eight thing over your thumb and pinky to create a fast line that you pull out of one end when you're done. You still need to burn the ends to keep them from unraveling but you should have a lighter on you at all times anyway.
More importantly you should not be cutting your cord unnecessarily. Only nubs cut their cord when they don't need to.
