>>2195355Ok so the C axis is convenience, and the W axis is weight. The top of the C scale is like home-level comfort, you're completely in doors and everything is effortless and super comfortable. The bottom of the C scale is homelessness-level comfort where everything fucking sucks and is a massive hassle. With a lot of the "ultralight" stuff you end up at the bottom left corner of the graph where you're the inconvenience of not bringing proper equipment vastly outweighs the convenience of only carrying five or so pounds on your back. Likewise, the bottom right corner demonstrates the diminishing returns that come with packing more and more excess gear. Yes, bringing a wool bedroll might be comfortable, but it's a huge pain in the ass to carry that shit up a trail. The sweet spot is somewhere in the middle.
