Unfortunately, the fires are mostly out. The air did smell off when I took off the mask, and you could see where the ground had cracked and broken at parts, but there was no smoke. Almost no buildings either, just a couple of houses, the old town hall (still active, there was a fire truck inside), and a church. The state tried to force everyone to leave and lost in court, but when someone moves out the house is repossessed and demolished. You could see the bare foundation pads along the roads. Kinda spooky.
The town name was redacted on most of the road signs leading to it, as well, and it's not on the maps anymore. It's like they don't want to admit that it ever existed.
Overall, kinda boring though. Brunswick Naval Air Station was way better in the time between when it closed and when the town started development.
