>>306575Nope, no need. Although you might look into "Tennessee Handle" rods. Those are kind of neat in that they don't have the little rings to tighten down over your reel handles. Instead you tape your reel to the rod as far up or down the handle as you want to. I mostly see people use black electrical tape but I've found cloth medical tape to work rather nicely. Provides a slightly different feel and can end up being lighter than rods that screw down over the reel's mounts.
