>>2771127My cycle touring rig. 1980s british eagle touring frame with down tube shifters. Crosso paniers, Wild Country Zephyros 1 man tent.
Whole touring setup with camping gear and clothes probably about £500-700 and I spent an average of 20 euro a day while away.
Toured the Alps for 7 weeks total and over 4000km with 40000m odd elevation, done lot of famous passes including la Bonnette at 2860m, biggest day on the bike was 192km.
Wild camped some of it and used campsites as well when wanting showers and shit.
Total weight of the rig was between 24-28kg depending on food and water situation.

>>2772460 I would highly recommend old steel frames I had no mechanical issues that I couldn't fix with a multi tool. Only issue was the old centre pull brakes which just didn't stop me when descending so I rear ended 2 cars when coming out of hairpins too fast but you could always put newer rim brakes on. I grew up around road cycling so always have preferred drop bars especially on days when riding 80 miles into a headwind.
