Panfish should be fairly high paced, if you dont get a bite in a minute or two make a new cast, if you've spent more than 5 minutes on one piece of structure without a bite then keep moving. If you want to be less aggressive, work structure more thoroughly, if you want to be more aggressive give each piece of structure just a cast or two. One good technique if you want to use artificial lures instead of bain is a small popper that will entice bass and bigger panfish, but it's mostly just a bobber for a soft hackle fly like pic related hanging 12-18 inches behind it. Deadlier still, tip the fly with a single maggot. You can fish for panfish much more aggressively with a set up like this. Just make sure you have hemostats incase one takes it deep.
