>>2380272I always use bread and or corn. Take some bread the night before and roll it up into little quarter inch thick balls of bread and stick them all in a tubleware container. Just use a tiny little size 4 or size 6 plain shank hook with as little weight as you can. Put one bread ball, or two to make a little snowman, and cast out. Throw a handful of bread balls as chum right over your bait and wait. That's all there is to it. Carp is hands down my favorite fish to target. They got so much fight in them. It also doesn't hurt to bring some corn. Try to get whole kernal with no sugar added. Just chum it out with the bread. If you have space left on your hook you could stick one or two kernals on there.
Make sure your drag is set right. Too loose and they'll take off so fast you'll never be able to work them back in. Too tight and you'll rip up the hook right out of their soft mouths. I always set my drag to the point that pulling off drag almost cuts my fingers, probably 7-10 pounds of drag, and they'll still pull 30 feet of drag off of that like it's nothing
