You can actually have so much soil in it that you mound it up in the middle slightly, while keeping it below the rim of the edges by at least 1 inch to prevent run-off losses. Over the season it will compact a bit and reduce in size. The extra soil will go a long way with the plants. What are you planting in it?
You may want to put in 2 more screws into the ends of those boards(pre-drilled) to help prevent cupping. Like in this image, in the center of the post they are attached to. Moisture from the inside and the drying sun/wind causes them to cup normally. It sometimes happens quickly and sometimes takes many years.
