Most famous example is the Dolly Sods in WV, but you can also find patches in PA and NY, the larger ones in PA i know of are the Quehanna wild area and Moosic mountain.

If you swing by Ashalnd the burning city of Centralia is only a 5 miles up the road. There's also a fossil pit in Centralia if you're into that stuff.
