The place was a small town and it had everything the mountain folk needed. I don't know much about the history but a lot of the buildings that were once there have been torn down. They've tried fixing up a few of them but mostly they're just removed. It's a shame as my folks come from near that area.
Went camping there once, there's a campsite just about three miles from the settlement there. It's closed so damn often due to bears (and I've come across my fair share in the area near there). But I figured I'd get up there, camp for the night to celebrate the end of a school year (went to college out of state).
Brought a few friends with me. One of them into "ghost hunting". Fucking faggot. But he was cool most of the time so he came along. 4 of us in total. We went down, set up tents, drank some beer and had a great night.
