>>350278The last picture I took. My phone died some time between this picture and when I checked it again (I brought two phones as my actual phone for calling/texting is a Nokia 105 with no camera functionality).
A lot of these logs (and others we gathered), we didn't burn. We stacked them and we'll use them again next time (we go camping here a lot).
The woods get tended to by someone with a chainsaw. I don't know how often, or if it's was just once a few years ago, but this means that there is a LOT of dead wood already cut into logs laying around for us to use. Not all of it is useable, but there is more than enough. Often the logs are too big to use without cutting them down to size ourselves first and it's mostly scots pine (from what /out/ told me when I asked about ID ages ago; it's definitely pine at least).
There's also quite a lot of hazel in this area and some other tree which I can't remember the species.
