>>1754585sorry i'm not familiar with sierra conditions, but if it's late-season thaw-melt that you can travel with microspikes and not snowshoes, then you definitely want a shovel, especially if it's exposed enough to be suncupped. It'll make digging a hole to set your deadman stakes much easier + you can make a snow wall if it's windy. It also doesn't make sense to bring the axe if all you're using it for is to set up camp and not for walking
I'd recommend getting one of pic related instead of using what's basically an oversized spade, if it's not for serious avy use you might be able to snag a cheapo one off amazon for <$20
