>>367016Stay away from areas frequented by humans and human-habituated animals like bears. The bears in Yosemite National Park were the worst, always looking for a hand-out in the middle of the night, which is why I haven't been back in about 30 years. I can't stand National Parks, because they are more like "Disneyland" than "nature." I hike/backpack in National Forests and BLM land, where the bears are hunted, so they run when they see me (I don't hunt) and the people are usually OK, not a full representation of the human race, like you'd find in National Parks. My goal is not to see anyone, and not let anyone see me. I feel safer in the woods during hunting season than the average downtown American city.
