>>2305717May be a dumb question, but DIY related. How do you make a smoky fire or make smoky coals but not have a ton of flare-ups where the hot smoldering stuff re-ignites itself? I understand that once it's over a certain temperature, it's dry enough, and it has enough air, it'll burn. But I can't just throw wet wood in or else it will screw up my hide I'm trying to waterproof by smoking. I can't really cut off the oxygen either; most I can do is not put a grate under it. What should I use? You need a good hour or two of smoke.
