Sandy’s fate was sealed by his own son — Thomas Randall “Bubby” Sandy — who testified against his father Wednesday. Prosecutors dismissed murder charges against him last year in exchange for his testimony.
Thompson’s mother, Edna Mattox, testified earlier she raised all three of her daughter’s children. She described her daughter as a “free spirit” who received a monthly SSI check and often got “on great big highs” from drugs and alcohol.
