Everest is overcommercialized and overfilled with rich assholes trying to overcome a mid-life crisis, but this doesn't mean it doesn't have merit to climb. It's a struggle especially if you don't have a team of 20 porters to lug your shit, and it can make good altitude training for other mountains like k2 where you have to deal with rough technical climbing as well as the extreme altitude.
I've only climbed 14,000 ft mountains but I can see the appeal of everest. To me they're terrifying and fascinating, yet begging to be climbed. If you don't have that drive inside you like
